HEADREAD LITERARY FESTIVAL
Press release
11.05.2017

Registration for the literary walks and workshops at HeadRead festival is now open.

Literary walks are a tradition of HeadRead and every year, we offer something new. This year, there are five walks in total, from Thursday to Saturday. Josef Kats guides a walk aroudn the Old Town (in Russian), Maarja Vaino walks in Kadriorg, and Maarja Kangro and Eva Koldits will take you around Kalamaja. Jaanus Vaiksoo will lead the way in the footsteps of the Siuru literary group, a kind of celebration of the group’s 100th anniversary. All walks are in Estonian unless specified otherwise and participants must register by emailing retk@headread.ee.

Another tradition of the festival is fascinating workshops and this year, there are no less than four on offer. Storyteller Piret Päär will set the ball rolling on 26 May at 3 pm at the Tallinn Central Library, giving a workshop in Estonian.

Italian author and artist Davide Cali will hold a workshop in English at the French Institute in Tallinn, giving some great advice on making a spellbinding illustrated children’s book. The workshop is held on Saturday 27 May at 11 am.

The crime fiction workshop of British author Jason Goodwin needs no further introduction, it is held on Saturday 27 May at 1 pm at the Tallinn Central Library.

Two hours later, the same location will host the poetry slam workshop of German artist Tobi Kunze entitled„Writing and Performing: Methods of Interaction“. Kunze is a renowned and inspiring performer who actively interacts with his audience, sometimes creating poetry with words shouted by them.

The workshops of international guests are held in English. Register by emailing info@headread.ee. All registration is on the first come, first served basis.

Festival HeadRead runs from 24 to 28 May 2017.
