The tenth HeadRead literary festival has come to an end. From 23 to 27 May, around 30 renowned international guests took to the stage, and the programme included nearly all forms of literature, from popular science to storytelling and prose poetry.
The festival celebrated its tenth birthday with the public joint reading event “Literary Tallinn” on the Freedom Square. The most popular event was the evening of puns at the Estonian Writers’ Union which did not fit all enthusiasts and a large crowd had to watch the event from the screen on Harju Street. The talks of Henry Marsh, Vladimir Sorokin and Michel Faber also attracted a large audience. Several conversations will be broadcast on Estonian Television and Tallinn Television.
The links between music and literature were explored by the Poetry Mass at the St Nicholas’ Church, the performance of Berlin Sound Poets at the Estonian Writers’ Union and the MASSIA Sound Poem “Through Kindness to the Stars” at the Kanuti Gild SAAL.
