Anton Shekhovtsov (1978) is a Ukrainian writer and political activist. He is known for his research into the far right political movements of Europe, and he is particularly interested in their links to Vladimir Putin’s Russia. This is the focus of his most recent book, Russia and the Western Far Right, published in 2017. Using different sources, from interviews and video recordings to official statements and leaked material, Shekhovtsov demonstrates how Russia is using European far right movements in its anti-Western agenda in an increasingly methodical manner. Shekhovtsov also edits the book series Explorations of the Far Right, published in Germany. He is attending the HeadRead festival to comment on Henrik Georgsson’s documentary film Stieg Larsson: The Man Who Played with Fire. It describes Larsson’s journalistic activities that focused on researching the far right. Shekhovtsov is joined by historian and political scientist Andres Kasekamp.
