Elina Gerodes (1978) is a Russian poet, musician and artist living in Estonia. As a musician, she has taken inspiration from rock, folk as well as jazz, and her music includes modern sounds and good old bard styles. Over the years, Gerodes has gained recognition in Russia as a singer-songwriter, from winning a diploma at the St Petersburg composers’ competition I, Composer in 2008 to performing in the furthest corners of Russia, such as Siberia and the Arctic. She has released three solo albums, the most recent Кто нужен? in 2003. Gerodes is equally inventive and experimental as an artist: in addition to canvas, she also paints on rocks and cork. Her performances constitute a powerful symbiosis of Russian poetry, soulful music and the personality of the performer.
