The HeadRead literary festival published its complete list of international guests; Tallinn will be hosting renowned authors from around the world.
The festival is happy to welcome the renowned and beloved British author Julian Barnes. Having also written crime fiction under the pseudonym Dan Kavanagh, his international fame increased in 2011 when he won the Man Booker Prize with his novel The Sense of An Ending. Although considered a master of the short form, he has written 13 acclaimed novels, with the tragic love story The Only Story appearing last year.
Guests also include the Swedish journalist and writer David Lagercrantz who has successfully continued the Millennium series of Stieg Larsson. He has written the fourth and fifth book of the Lisbeth Salander series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2015) and The Girl Who takes an Eye for an Eye (2017). In addition to crime, Lagercrantz has also written biographies, one of the best known of which is I am Zlatan Ibrahimović (2011), which became one of the fastest selling books in Sweden.
The festival will also host British crime and thriller author Mick Herron. He is known as the author of the series featuring the Oxford private detective Zoë Boehm, and the Slough House series about the MI5.
Other authors include French-Moroccan author Leïla Slimani, translator, writer and journalist of Estonian origin Ian Thomson, T. S. Eliot Poetry Prize laureate of Estonian origin Philip Gross, Armenian-born prose writer Narine Abgarjan, children’s author Toon Tellegen, playwright and novelist Inga Gaile, literary critic Galina Yuzefovich, film producer and screenwriter Michael Hjörth, wolf specialist Elli Radinger, Norwegian explorer and entrepreneur Erling Kagge, storyteller and choreographer Nikky Smedley, writer and lecturer Merete Mazzarella, columnist and writer A. N. Wilson, writer and journalist Sheila O’Flanagan, cultural journalist and writer Mattias Berg, children’s author Denisa Prošková, humorist and publicist Miska Rantanen, screenwriter, actor and writer Hans Rosenfeldt, illustrator of the popular Gruffalo series Axel Scheffler and crime writer Emelie Schepp.
The HeadRead literary festival takes place in Tallinn from 22 to 26 May.
