Jessikka Aro
Jessikka Aro (1980) is a journalist for the Finnish public broadcaster YLE, who has studied Russian influence activities, primarily information warfare and troll farms. In 2019, Aro published a book entitled Putin’s Trolls (Putin trollit). The work is based on a series of articles on the same topic, for which Aro was awarded the Bonnier Prize for Journalism in Finland, but as a result, the same Kremlin trolls began to attack and persecute her. Aro did not buckle under pressure and published a book in which she boldly describes the nature of the Russian imperialist propaganda machine. This was followed last year by a work entitled Putinin maailmansota (Putin’s World War), parts of which cover the 2010 Smolensk plane crash, an event that has been overshadowed by the latest atrocities of Russia and in which Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife and a large number of high-ranking Polish state officials, including ministers and members of the Sejm, were killed.
