Jørn Lier Horst and Øyvind Rangøy

Jørn Lier Horst (1970) is a Norwegian crime writer. Before he became a writer, he worked as a Senior Investigating Officer at Vestfold police district in southern Norway, which is why he can draw on personal experience when writing fiction and his expertise is evident in his works. As is usually the case with prolific crime writers, Horst writes his stories as series. His best known series born in 2004 centres on Police Inspector William Wisting who often solves heinous crimes with help from his daughter, investigative journalist Line – which, naturally is a cause of some concern for Wisting. His latest novel to be published in Estonian sees the father and daughter team chase a serial killer on the run. Fifteen novels have been published in the Wisting series so far. Horst has also begun writing a series of crime novels with his renown colleague Thomas Enger (1973), where the character of Police Officer Alexander Blix connects the stories. The first book of the series, Death Deserved, sees Blix investigating the mysterious disappearances of celebrities. Horst is also a prolific children’s author and his stories for kids are equally gripping. Jørn Lier Horst talks to Norwegian-Estonian poet Øyvind Rangøy.
