It is traditional for festival HeadRead to feature a varied programme of literature and art at the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre. This will be kicked off on Thursday 25 May at 10 am by the prolific children’s author Heli Illipe Sootak, who published a book of children’s poetry last year, and a book of stories this year, and the illustrator of her books, Katrin Erlich. At 12 pm, one of the brightest stars of recent Estonian children’s literature, Kairi Look, will meet her readers. The Thursday programme will be concluded at 5 pm by Maria Turtschaninoff and Nikolai Karajev (please refer to Turtschaninoff’s profile for further information). On Friday 26 May, foreign authors Davide Cali and David Almond will perform (at 10 am and 12 pm, and 10 am respectively, see profiles of Cali and Almond for further information). On Saturday 27 May, a real children’s feast will kick off at 12 pm with a children’s book exchange fair and a performance by the children of the group Tuuleviiul. At 1 pm, you can make unique art with illustrator Kertu Sillaste and the day is completed by Bumpy who will help children explore letters and play with words at 2 pm. A café is also open.
