Tom Stoppard came to the HeadRead festival in 2013 and for his visit, parts one and two of his Coast of Utopia were produced in the Estonian Drama Theatre and the Estonian City Theatre respectively. His programme was truly packed, he gave a talk at the Estonian Writers’ Union and went to see the theatre productions, meeting with the actors afterwards and taking the time to talk to each and every one of them. He was a witty and brilliant conversationalist and his visit to Tallinn was memorable. Another great has left us and we are comforted only by the fact that his works remain – they live on in new productions.
