From today until the end of the week, Tallinn will once again host notable authors of the contemporary literary scene. The HeadRead literary festival brings acclaimed international guests to Tallinn and gives an overview of the trends on the Estonian literary lanscape.
The Estonian reader will have the opportunity to meet such names as Édouard Louis, Peter Pomerantsev and Simon Sebag Montefiore. Estonian guests include Kairi Look, Lilli Luuk and Katrin Ruus. Separate evenings are dedicated to Ukrainian poetry, underground poetry (the DGUG group with Riste Sofie Käär and Richard Jerbach) and Jaan Malin’s surreal poetry programme Crazed Tallinn. Persian and Estonian poetry and works in the Võro dialect and Chuvash language will also meet. A jury of young Estonians will announce their candidates for the Prix Goncourt.
The HeadRead literary festival takes place in Tallinn from 28 May to 1 June.
Some changes may occur in the programme – for reasons beyond the control of the organisers, Volodymyr Jermolenko and Gili Haimovich will not be able to attend the literary festival this time. The poetry reading competition on Marie Under’s works is also cancelled.
