With a heavy heart, the organisers of the HeadRead literary festival decided to not hold the festival this year. The main consideration is the new surge in COVID-19 infections in the world but also in Estonia. The health of visitors and guests is crucial for the organisers and therefore, even a theoretical possibility of infection is a risk the organisers are not willing to take.
HeadRead was set to be held from 9 to 13 September this year, having already been postponed from its usual time in late May due to the coronavirus. However, lovers of literature will still be able to enjoy the festival virtually in September. The Jupiter site of the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR) will present a selection of conversations with authors recorded at the HeadRead festival over the years. The site jupiter.err.ee will feature 14 conversations in total.
You can also keep an eye on the website and social media of the festival for book recommendations and other interesting literary content.
The organisers hope that by next spring, it will be possible to plan and organise close literary encounters without reservations. The next HeadRead literary festival is held from 26 to 30 May 2021.
